The IUAES welcomes as members any and all anthropologists\/ethnologists a nd others from cognate disciplines, wherever in the world they are based and with whichever branch of the discipline they might be interested. Students of anthropology\/ethnology are also very welcome to become members. The main goal of the IUAES is to facilitate wide-ranging global exchanges between anthropologists\/ethnologists in interests of the discipline&#8217;s development.<\/p><p>IUAES Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December. For National Academies, National Institutes or equivalent: An amount of at least \u00a350 p.a. but to be determined through negotiation between the member and the IUAES Executive Committee.<\/p><p>For Funding Foundations, Commercial Enterprises or similar: An amount of at least \u00a3150 p.a. but to be determined through negotiation between the member and the IUAES Executive Committee.<\/p><p>For National or Regional Associations and Councils (including non-Anthropology\/Ethnology Associations having a cognate interest in Anthropology\/Ethnology): the same Membership fee rate as applies to Association Members in the WCAA Chamber of the World Anthropological Union. These are:<\/p><ul><li>Level 1 (large and strong associations): USD $1 \/ individual member; Cap \u00a33850 (~USD$5000)<\/li><li>Level 2a (large but not strong associations): USD $0.50 per individual member; Cap \u00a32675 (~USD$3500)<\/li><li>Level 2b (small but strong): USD $0.80 per individual member; Maximum \u00a3305 (~USD $400)<\/li><li>Level 3 (small and not so strong): USD $0.40 per individual member; Minimum \u00a330 (~USD $40); Maximum \u00a3153 (~USD $200)<\/li><li>Level 4 (very limited circumstances): Token payment based on association&#8217;s capacity to pay; Suggested minimum \u00a315 (~USD$20)<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Definitions of above terms for associational categories:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><br \/>Large = an association with more than 500 members<br \/>Small = an association with less than 500 members<br \/>Strong = individual annual member fees greater than $50 pa or access to other funding sources (typically associations in higher income countries) Not so strong = individual annual member fees of less than $50 pa and no access to other funding (typically associations in lower income countries) Very limited circumstances = associations with very low overall income (&lt;$500 pa) from membership fees or any other source (evidence is required)\u00a0<\/p><p><br \/>Member = any employed member who was a paid-up member for the purpose of the preceding financial report of the association, irrespective of their income. Where fees for employed members are graded along an income-based scale or otherwise distributed across tiers, the average fee per employed member needs to be calculated.
